Hands On Childrens Musuem of Olympia
Jefferson St, Olympia / 25,500 SF / 2012
The Hands on Children's Museum in Olympia was a public-private partnership. Originally the project was a Design-Bid-Build project and it was drastically over budget. Sunset provided Value Engineering services and was able to completely redesign the project and reduce their contract by over $100,000.
The final HVAC system used water source heat pumps and a 'warm' water loop from the adjacent sewage treatment plant (LOTT). The loop is kept warm by waste methane boilers. A Honeywell Jace controller with Niagra framework serves as the buildings Energy Management System (EMS) and includes a web interface with color graphics.
